J&T BANKA Bratislava Enters Stock Market
BRATISLAVA - J&T BANKA, a.s., branch of the foreign bank, assumed activities of J&T SECURITIES, a.s., o.c.p. securities dealer. Since February, it is a member of the Bratislava stock exchange (Burza cenných papierov v Bratislave a.s.) and of the Central Securities Depository (Centrálny depozitár, a.s.).
"This step was driven mainly by the effort to ensure maximum comfort and range of J&T BANKA services for our clients in Bratislava," explains Monika Céreová, director of J&T BANKA Bratislava.
Since February, J&T BANKA Bratislava has extended the range of services it offers by securities trading on the Slovak market and services of a member of the Central Securities Depository. In addition, these services will be shortly extended by safekeeping of securities in letter forms and administration of foreign securities.
"Inclusion of the services of a securities broker to the range of services provided by the bank makes room for better opportunities to acquire clients and for further growth of the bank on one hand, and on the other hand it is expected that the efficiency of operations made by the securities broker will be improved by its inclusion into the bank processes," adds M. Céreová.
J&T BANKA Bratislava assumed the membership in the Securities Stock Exchange upon resignation of J&T SECURITIES, a.s., o.c.p. J&T SECURITIES was one of the biggest securities brokers in Slovakia. It was Number One in the market in terms of share volumes transferred in 2006.
J&T BANKA, Bratislava, which opened its first account on 6 March 2006, focuses on the provision of private and investment banking services.

In the nine months of 2007, J&T BANKA Bratislava earned a net profit of SKK 104.3 million, giving an increase of SKK 111.38 million compared to the equivalent period of 2006. Its balance more than doubled in year-to year terms, as it grew from SKK 5.06 billion to 12.99 billion. General operating costs amounted to SKK 57.72 million in the first nine months. Receivables from clients amounted to SKK 11.71 billion and payables to clients amounted to SKK 7.67 billion. The Bank employed 77 people.
