J&T Plans to Build a Wind Farm with 25 Power Plants by the Municipality of Moldava

Currently, the investor is choosing from four types of power stations with installed unit production ranging from 2.3 MW to 3 MW.  On the basis of this decision, the final installed output capacity of the Moldava wind farm will range between 57.5 MW and 75 MW – the latter if equipment that provides unit production of 3 MW is selected. “We will decide on the type of equipment to use only after wind measurements have been taken, a location profile has been prepared and other parameters have been defined, which will determine the best technology for the wind farm,” stated František Čupr, Director of Renewable Resources Development for the J&T Group.

The Moldava wind farm project is currently in the environmental impact assessment phase (EIA). Originally, J&T was considering a total output capacity of up to 100 MW for the Moldava wind farm. In the end however, the project was changed on the basis of the results from project proposals and specific terrain conditions. “In efforts to place the least possible burden on the local environment, we optimized the project by decreasing the total output capacity by at least one-fourth,” according to Čupr.

Construction of the wind farm in Moldava could start at the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011.
