VSS, a.s. Košice is an engineering and foundry company. The foundry plant produces items made of grey ductile cast iron, with a wide range of shapes and weights from 0.5 to 13,800 kg. By introducing the lost foam casting process, the company successfully established its position in the automotive segment. VSS products used by companies such as Škoda, Matador Automotive and Kuka-Enco can be found in cars such as Škoda, BMW, Opel and Audi. The engineering production focuses on the manufacture of bodies for special rescue vehicles, manufacture of harbour cranes, steel structures for civil engineering and industrial constructions and load bearing frames. Focus is also on the manufacture of high-capacity, elevated and underground storage tanks, non-standard transmission gears with spur and bevel gearing made precisely to customer requirements, or reversible stationary gearboxes with reduction gear. The current customers of VSS patria are companies from the Thyssen Krupp Group, as well as Kalmar, U.S. Steel Košice, Slovnaft, PSJ Hydrotranzit, Alstom and Wacker-Neuson or Vectra.
